During the Budget Speech For the Financial Year 2024, the South African Finance Minister confirmed a slight increase in Care Dependency Grant Payments, according to which the amount has leaped from R2090 to R2180/month.
It is fair to add that the Care Dependency Grant recipients will get increased amounts in two phases. The first phase will increase R90, taking the amount to R2180, while the second phase will add R10, summing R2190 in total payment.
Meanwhile, the Government has also revised the Eligibility Standards and Means Tests, imposing that the applicant’s income must not exceed R250800/year. Further, the grant remains unapproved if the child is already cared for or sheltered by any Government Institute.
SASSA Care Dependency Grant New Amount
Care Dependency Grant is another considerable initiative of the South African Government as it aims to aid caregivers of children with disability. According to Official Rules, Parents, Foster Parents, or Primary Caretakers of a Child under 18 years are eligible for this grant.

Before April 2024, SASSA will offer an R2080/month grant for the Care Dependency Grant, but this amount has increased to R2180/month after the new Budget announcement. Notably, recipients will start receiving new grant amounts from May 2024.
